Photovoltaic systems and green roofs
Photovoltaics and green roofs are an unbeatable combination when it comes to sustainable energy generation. A green roof stores water, significantly reduces peak runoff, filters dust and noise, protects the roof waterproofing and balances out temperature peaks. But that’s not all:
Cooling boosts PV performance
Thanks to the cooling effect of the green roof on the roof surface, solar panels perform significantly better under maximum sunlight. The substrate layer of the green roof also serves as ballast for the photovoltaic system’s substructure, meaning that anchoring to the roof structure is often not even necessary.
